Abstract

Studying the response of plants to heavy metal pollution in the environment is one of the key tasks of ecological monitoring. This research identified patterns in the variation of the chemical composition of plants depending on the level of pollutant exposure. In Kazakhstan, there is currently no clearly defined permissible limit for heavy metals in plants, which increases the relevance of this issue. The results of the study allow for the assessment of the monitoring condition of oak and chestnut trees. In addition, the quantitative and qualitative variability of medicinal plants revealed in the study can be used in breeding programs. By determining plant density and natural regeneration, a basis is established for assessing the region’s natural resource potential and organizing efficient use strategies. The results of the studies conducted on plants along central streets and in parks can contribute to the development of environmental protection programs and the improvement of ecological monitoring systems. The data obtained help evaluate ecosystem stability and monitor modification changes caused by anthropogenic factors.
