This research work is dedicated to the study of the female image of the character Zhalmauyz Kempir in Kazakh fairy tales. The aim of the study is to describe and compare the features of this image, as well as to identify similarities and differences with the character Baba Yaga in Russian folk tales. The work is innovative as it examines the female image of a mythical character in Kazakh folklore and compares it to the analogous character in Russian fairy tales. The object of the study is Kazakh and Russian folk tales, and the subject is the magical characters of these tales. The study applies methods of literature analysis, comparison, surveys, and processing their results. The findings of the work may be useful for students and teachers in preparing for lessons in Russian language, literary reading, and visual arts.
