In the modern education system, the effective use of digital technologies and artificial intelligence tools has become one of the key directions for developing students' functional literacy. In particular, improving reading skills in English language teaching is an essential prerequisite for developing learners' language competence. Generative artificial intelligence tools make it possible to adapt learning materials to students' language proficiency levels, analyze texts, expand vocabulary, and provide immediate feedback. This article examines the scientific and methodological foundations of improving reading skills in English language lessons through the use of digital platforms and artificial intelligence tools. The author presents the READ–AI scientific and methodological model and describes effective approaches to its implementation in the educational process. In addition, the article offers practical tasks for developing reading strategies and methodological recommendations for English language teachers.
