In the current educational landscape, enhancing interdisciplinary interaction and developing students’ functional literacy are among the most pressing issues. In this context, integrating the STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, Mathematics) approach into geography lessons modernizes the content of instruction and enables students to develop their research and creative potential. Since geography examines natural and social processes in a comprehensive manner, using the STEAM approach allows the integration of elements from physics, mathematics, biology, computer science, and art within a single learning task. Such integration contributes to the development of students’ cartographic skills, spatial thinking, data analysis, and modeling abilities. Moreover, the use of practical projects, experiential tasks, and digital tools increases students’ interest in the subject and helps connect theoretical knowledge with real-life situations. Systematic application of the STEAM approach in geography lessons teaches students to analyze problems holistically, understand interdisciplinary connections, and apply acquired knowledge in practice. Thus, teaching geography based on the STEAM approach enhances students’ cognitive engagement and is described as an effective pedagogical method aimed at developing competent and competitive individuals in line with contemporary educational requirements.
