The article analyzes the theoretical foundations of digital capital in sociology, research directions, and the characteristics of its formation among youth. The study draws on Bourdieu’s theory of capital, as well as the works of Castells, Ragnedda, Foucault, and other digital age scholars, examining the multifaceted nature of digital capital. A content analysis was conducted on 41 scientific publications released between 2021 and 2025 in the Scopus, Google Scholar, and SSRN databases, identifying key research directions, methodologies, and factors influencing the development of digital competencies. The results indicate that the socio-cultural dimensions of digital capital are insufficiently explored and that empirical research in the youth context remains scarce.
