Abstract

This article examines the development of the fact-checking ecosystem in Kazakhstan and its influence on information quality and public consciousness. The rapid expansion of digital media, the dominance of social networks as primary information sources, and the increasing spread of fake news have intensified challenges related to information security. The study analyzes the dynamics of misinformation circulation in Kazakhstan between 2020 and 2024, focusing on thematic patterns, dissemination channels, and audience vulnerability. Using content analysis, comparative methods, and open-source data, the article evaluates the role of platforms such as Factcheck.kz and StopFake.kz in strengthening the country’s informational resilience. Findings indicate that fact-checking enhances critical thinking, reduces the negative impact of false information on public opinion, and contributes to a more informed media environment. The study highlights the importance of media literacy and underscores the strategic role of fact-checking in ensuring information stability and protecting public consciousness.
