This article examines the importance of the concept of functional literacy in the modern education system and explores effective ways of developing it in the context of chemistry education. By utilizing rapidly advancing Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies, the paper analyzes integrative approaches to enhancing students’ functional literacy in chemistry lessons. The study outlines methods such as designing AI-based subject tasks, automating laboratory and practical work, and providing personalized learning materials. In addition, methodological models aimed at fostering critical thinking and improving the ability to apply chemical knowledge in real-life situations are presented. The findings indicate that functional tasks developed with the help of AI have a positive impact on students’ learning outcomes, cognitive engagement, and research skills. The use of AI technologies in teaching chemistry is shown to effectively connect knowledge with practice, broaden students’ scientific worldview, and develop essential life skills for their future success.
