Abstract

Women are playing an increasingly significant role in radical and terrorist groups, necessitating a deeper understanding of the mechanisms behind their radicalization and involvement in extremist activities. This study presents a systematic review and meta-analysis of the factors motivating women to join radical movements, their functions, and their influence within such structures. It also explores in detail their participation in planning and executing terrorist acts, as well as their role in recruiting new group members. The findings can serve as a basis for developing more effective strategies to prevent the radicalization of women and to counter the terrorist threat, taking into account the specific nature of their involvement in extremist movements.
