The article explores the importance of corrective-pedagogical work with children who have special educational needs. Developing cognitive processes enhances students’ interest in learning and contributes to better mastery of educational material. Since 2017, the author has been working with home-schooled students and those in correctional classes. The focus is primarily on children with delayed psychological development (DPD). These students typically demonstrate low academic performance and cognitive impairments. Through individual diagnostic assessments, their developmental characteristics are identified, and special corrective plans are developed. Based on L.S. Vygotsky’s ideas, the article highlights the impact of individualized and didactic approaches on comprehensive child development. Home-based education, special schools, and correctional classes are presented as effective educational formats for children with special needs. The author’s experience shows that continuous and systematic work leads to positive outcomes.
