Abstract

The article considers that the issues of personal data protection and confidentiality are becoming more and more acute with the development of modern technologies. The author analyzes the main principles of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) adopted by the European Union and identifies its importance in protecting the privacy of citizens. The peculiarity of the GDPR is that it has an impact on international legal practice, setting new requirements for data processing methods not only within the European Union countries, but also globally. The article describes the main norms of the GDPR related to the protection of personal data, the role of legal regulation against new technological threats and its practical significance for Kazakhstan. The results of the study show that the practice of the GDPR can serve as a model for improving the system of personal data protection.
